Rocket and Grenade Jumps
Rocket jumps you need to time the jump with looking down and firing a rocket. Pipe jumps you need to run over the pipe and jump as you explode it. Both will take armor and health off your life, but will get you to places you could not normally just jump to or run to. For example, you can rocket jump up the elevator in 2fort, or just jump up the grate in 2 fort. Neither of which is possible just jumping. I recommend everyone learns rocket jumping or pipe jumping. They can be very valuable in attacking and escaping a base. The jumping and firing of the rocket during the jump is the move that will determine your height and effectiveness of your jump. The firing of the rocket must be done immediately after you have pressed the jump key. The factors of latency will also affect how you rocket jump, if your latency is extremely high you will find it very difficult to perform the jump.
As for Grenade jumps, these are very powerful jumps that move you very very fast. You get the same speed and acceleration as an explosive jump, but these you actually controll. You can hand hold or drop grenade jumps.
Good training exercises are:
Hand hold a +gren1 as soldier on WELL, you should be able to make it from front door to front door in 1 jump. Hand hold a +gren2 as a hwguy on dwd_Arena2 in the flag room, to getup on outer ledge, then hand hold a +gren1 to get the flag, drop down to upper ledge and run to your cap and then hand hold another +gren1 to cap. Yeahh you capped as hwguy !!
dropped grenades do not throw you as far as hand held ones do. This is the same with concs. However timing is alot more crucial and the damage is much higher.
